Happy Halloween!!!!

Awe! Rylee's first Halloween!!!! As a parent obviously it was more exciting for me than it was for her. Let's face it, how excited does a 6-week old actually get?! We did it up though. On Saturday we carved pumpkins...

It was about 90 out, so we did it outside! It was fabulous!!!!

Pumpkin Butt!!!

Mom's, Rylee's and Dad's...

So we thought it would be super cute to put Rylee in the pumpkin and take pictures...she was NOT having it!!! She screamed the whole time so that idea was an epic fail!!!! haha

The finished product at night. Ohhhhhhhhh, spooky!!!!

Lets go Broncos!!!

Rylee loves watching football with her daddy, baseball too. Seriously, she totally watches the TV and is perfectly content. Dad said he was teaching her about football the right way, the Boise State way. The look on her face is just too much, I love it!

hmmmmmm, will the Broncos win today? I think so!

One Month Old!!!!

Holy cow!!! How has a month already flown by!?!? It's hard to believe that Rylee has been in our lives for a whole month now. It has been amazing and we are having so much fun with her. She honestly makes me laugh every day. She makes the funniest little faces and has started to develop a little personality which I love. Lately she has started grunting a lot and we have come to the conclusion that this little girl can really pack a punch. We had no idea babies were so loud when they do their business. As Ryan said last night, "she farts like a man" haha We can't do anything but look at each other and just laugh, most of the time asking "was that you?".

She is growing up so fast and I swear she changes every day. She has gone from drinking 2-4 ounces per feeding to anywhere from 5-8 ounces! I am trying to keep up with her in the feeding department. Unfortunately she never did latch on and it got to be WAY too frustrating for both of us. Luckily she is still getting what she needs but pumping is such a pain!

Her sleep pattern is pretty consistent at about 2-4 hours most of the time. At night though she seems to sleep for longer intervals, WOOHOOO!!! The other night she slept from 10pm to 4am...it was amazing!!! We have a pretty good system going...even if we do go to bed at 8-9 o'clock most nights! I am up with her all night and then Ryan takes the first, early morning shift before he goes to work. I tried the whole "sleep when she sleeps" thing and it's just not working. She is wide awake in the morning when I want to be sleeping and then in the middle of the day when she wants to sleep, I am wide awake. Thankfully I don't feel sleep deprived, so we must be doing something right! During the day I have started putting her in her crib for naps, we want to make her transition a little more comfortable. She is growing so fast that she is going to out-grow her bassinet before we know it.

Things that Rylee likes...

The fan...She puts her head way back and just stares at it with her mouth wide open!

Bath time...She loves being in the water and having the water poured over her head--even more than she did before.

Looking at her "guys"...We have started to stimulate our little girls mind and she loved looking at the shapes. I told Ryan we have to do whatever we can to make her super smart because there is no way I will be able to help her with her math homework lol!!!

When Rylee is awake she is super alert and constantly looking around and is aware of things going on around her. Her dad has her working on her muscle strength and seems to think she will be walking be the end of the month haha She does hold her head up very well which I am really impressed with.

Happy one-month Birthday baby girl!!! We love you to pieces and enjoy every minute we get to spend with you!

So far, so good!

We are finally getting used to our new lifestyle. Rylee is such a blessing and I am amazed by the fact that she is changing daily. She isn't even the same person we brought home 2 weeks ago. We went to her 2 week check up and our little girl has gained a whole pound (8.13#), I think it's all in her cheeks, and she has grown over an inch (21.4")!!! This puts her in the 93% for her height and 75% for weight...I don't know what this means exactly...I need to figure it out so I know if it's a good thing or not lol!

Here are some of the things miss Rylee likes:

eating (about every 3-4 hours)
sleeping on her daddy's chest and sleeping in general
swinging in her swing, she loves the vibration it makes
hanging out in her boppy
tummy time on her play mat
warm water poured on her head at bath time
watching/talking to her "fans" on Facetime/Skype
Riding in her stroller or in her car seat

I am loving mommy-hood, even the fact that I have been pooped on, peed on and spit up on! I was blessed to have my mom here helping out for 2 weeks, which was AWESOME, she stayed extra after my dad went home!!! She was a huge help, especially the first couple of days when it was a little difficult to move around. It was hard having her go (I could get used to her cooking and cleaning for me...heehee just kidding mom). The same day she left Vickie got here and got to hang out with Rylee for a couple days, which was also awesome. I'm so excited that Rylee has such wonderful grandparents who love the heck out of her, I know they are all going to have fantastic relationships with her, I just wish we all lived closer together.

Love to all!!!

Introducing......Rylee May Galloway

Hooray!!! Our baby girl is FINALLY here and I honestly do not think we could be any happier! She has been amazing and it's hard to imagine what our life was like without her in it (and it's only been a week). She did give me quite the time trying to make her big entrance into the world, but now that she is here none of it even matters any more.

We decided to schedule myself to be induced at 9am Friday the 16th. I knew it could be a lengthy process but at least things would get going...so I thought. So on Friday morning my cell phone rings, it's the hospital saying that I need to just stay home; they were backed up and there was an "excessive line" of women ahead of me. Excessive?! What the heck does that mean???? So we waited, and waited, and waited and Friday seemed to pass us by and we never heard from the hospital. So, Saturday morning we got a phone call at 7am that there was a bed available so we got up and headed in. I got checked into my room at about 9:30am and the nurse came in to check my progress. NOTHING. I was only dilated 1cm and about 50% effaced. I was then put on cytotec to get things moving and this was given to me every 4 hours. Around 10pm when I was only dilated to a 2 they administered another medication called prepidil, which I got two doces of. That got me to about a 3 and 70% and didn't really do much after that...lame! However, that was enough to move on to the next thing and they started the pitocin which seemed to work (good since that is what it's used for). I went from 3 to 5 pretty fast but still not as fast as we were all hoping. It was a looooong, uncomfortable day that's for sure. At one point Ryan and my dad went home to get changed, take a shower and hang out a little before the "big event"! While they were gone I went from a 5 to a 9 really fast, like, in less than an hour. During this time babies heart rate dropped quite a bit to they got me on oxygen and we called Ryan and my dad back to the hospital. The last centimeter seemed to take it's sweet little time but around 9pm I was finally ready to start pushing!!!

** Wait, did I mention the epidural?!? Oh man...I thought I could do without it, but apparently I am not as tough as I thought I was. However I did make it a little over 24-hours. All you women who go without are seriously SUPER HERO'S!!!!!!!!! I wasn't quite sure what to expect, I mean come on a 6" needle going into your back doesn't sound too pleasant. But I will say this, once I got it, I was in heaven and was able to finally relax and get some sleep after being quite uncomfortable for a while. So my vote is YES, get the epidural if you are trying to decide which way to go!!!!

Back to the story of Rylee's arrival...I started pushing, no biggie, we all thought she would be here by 11pm. 11 rolls around and no baby. So we keep pushing...they told us that she looked like she would be here by midnight. Midnight comes, still no baby. By this point my epidural is starting to wear off and after a couple more contractions I decided I needed more drugs! They came in, hooked me up with some more drugs and we continued to push, and...nothin. At this point I was done, I was so tired and I just wanted it to be over already! Apparently I have a narroe pubic arch and she couldn't make the turn to come out. The doctor finally says we had 2 options, we can get the vacuum out and see if that will work or go straight to having a c-section. We chose to try the vacuum for obvious reasons. Why would I want to go into major surgery without at least trying everything we could. The vacuum was HORRIBLE!!!!! It hurt soooooo bad I thought I was going to explode! Doctor used it through three contractions and decided that Rylee was just not coming out. So we got prepped for surgery.

We went in, got all hooked up and it seemed like within 10 minutes our little miss was finally here. September 19, 2011 at 12:40am Rylee May Galloway changed our lives forever, and we could not be happier. She weighed 7 pounds 13 ounces and measured in at 20 inches. We were thinking she was going to be a lot bigger than that, especially after the fight she put up. She has beautiful blue eyes and a full head of dark hair (total shocker)

I know she's only a week old but it's hard to remember what our lives were like without her here.

(These pictures were taken at about 3am, we were completely exhausted).

Thank you all so much for all the love and support, it means the world to us. She is a blessing and we look forward to all the joy she is about to bring us! More to come later, I miss my baby and have to go see her :)
